Xavi Hernandez has admitted Barcelona will decide Robert Lewandowski’s future in the coming weeks.

Lewandowski will lead Poland at Euro 2024 in what could be his final competition with the national team.

The veteran striker will then look to sit down with Xavi after the tournament to decide his long term place in Catalonia.

His current deal runs until 2026, with Barcelona retaining an option to extend for an additional 12 months, if he wants to end his career with La Blaugrana.

Barcelona are considering sales this summer, to fund transfers, and Lewandowski would still command a high transfer fee from the Saudi Pro League.

Both Xavi and Lewandowski want to continue together but the Barcelona head coach hinted finances could dictate whether that is possible in 2024.

“We value Robert’s presence in the team a lot and we will decide his future when the season ends”, as per reports from Marca.

Xavi’s comments are the first indication that Lewandowski could be offloaded if the right offer comes in for the former Bayern Munich forward.

His 23 league goals fired Barcelona to the La Liga title last season and he has managed 16 so far in 2023/24.
