Chicago Bears GM Sends Out Confident NFL Draft Message
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

Pretty much everyone knows that the Chicago Bears are going to select quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick of the NFL Draft this week.

But Bears general manager Ryan Poles is still trying to remain diplomatic.

When asked whether or not Chicago has already decided on Williams heading into Thursday night, Poles gave a rather humorous answer.

“Unfortunately everyone has to tune in on Thursday to watch, but I feel good about where we are. We know what we’re going to do,” said Poles, via Kaitlin Sharkey of WGN TV.

Obviously, the Bears are going to take Williams.

Chicago acquired the No. 1 selection in a trade with the Carolina Panthers last year, when the Bears, ironically enough, sent their own No. 1 pick in 2023 to the Panthers as part of the package.

Carolina finished with the worst record in football this year, resulting in Chicago landing the top pick.

All along, the general consensus has been that the Bears will select Williams, who is considered a generational prospect by some.

The USC product is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he threw for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 68.6 percent of his passes. He also punched in 11 rushing scores.

Williams began his collegiate career at Oklahoma in 2021 but transferred to USC the following year.

In his first season with the Trojans, Williams totaled 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns and five picks, completing 66.6 percent of his throws.

Barring a dramatic turn of events, we will get to see the Bears take Williams with the No. 1 pick on Thursday evening.
