Buffalo Bills GM Gets Brutally Honest On Brandon Aiyuk Rumors

The Buffalo Bills seem to have ruled out the possibility of acquiring Brandon Aiyuk or any other high-priced wide receiver currently available on the trade market.

In a recent statement, Bills general manager Brandon Beane addressed the team’s wide receiver situation following the NFL Draft, dispelling any speculation about a potential blockbuster trade.

Despite earlier rumors linking the Bills to players like Aiyuk from the San Francisco 49ers and Tee Higgins from the Cincinnati Bengals, Beane emphasized that the team lacks the necessary cap space to take on such hefty contracts.

“The cap is the cap. There’s no trade coming. I know everyone wants to link us to every trade in the league.”

Many pundits had touted the Bills as frontrunners to secure either Aiyuk or Higgins, with some NFL scouts even suggesting that the team was amassing assets to make a move during the draft. The Bills traded down twice in the first round, ultimately landing the No. 32 and No. 33 overall picks while accumulating additional mid-round selections.

Speculation further intensified when an anonymous NFL scout hinted to ESPN’s Matt Miller that these maneuvers might be setting the stage for a trade to bolster the wide receiver corps.

However, it appears that no serious offers materialized for Aiyuk during the draft, as confirmed by 49ers general manager John Lynch, who noted the absence of calls regarding the receiver over the first two days of the event.

Although the Buffalo Bills ultimately refrained from making a major trade for a wide receiver, they expressed satisfaction with the acquisition of Keon Coleman early in the second round. Brandon Aiyuk would have been a nice pickup, but at the end of the day his price tag was too steep.
