Andy Ruiz Jr has taken to Twitter to formally confirm his desire to meet Deontay Wilder in the ring.

Wilder has not fought since his trilogy defeat to Tyson Fury, but has recently returned to training and will be going toe-to-toe with Robert Helenius next month.

Presuming Wilder wins his comeback fight, it opens up multiple avenues for the former heavyweight champion of the world, who is still a HUGE draw in the States.

Anthony Joshua’s name has been mooted but one man who is insistent that he gets the shot at the Bronze Bomber is Andy Ruiz Jr, fresh off of a win against Luis Ortiz.

Considering how Wilder dealt with Ortiz in comparison to Ruiz Jr, he may well fancy his chances heading into a potential fight against the Mexican.

Let’s not forget, though, this would be two former heavyweight champions meeting in battle, it’s a mouth-watering prospect, especially for American boxing fans.

Exactly what Wilder’s appetite is in terms of taking that fight remains to be seen, but it’s certainly one to keep your eyes fixed on after his upcoming tussle with Helenius.
